🌿Supporting You with Personalised, Compassionate Psychotherapeutic Care 🌿

Richard Paul Caird

🧩About me

I was fortunate to travel widely in my youth, immersing myself in many cultures and ways of life. These experiences broadened my outlook and shaped both the person and therapist I have become. My practice draws on Person-Centred, Relational, Integrative, and Existential approaches. I’m committed to helping individuals explore themselves and move toward psychological healing.🌿

With over 13 years of clinical experience in NHS psychiatry, I’ve worked extensively with people affected by trauma, abuse, neglect, and complex mental health difficulties. My aim has always been to offer a safe, compassionate space where clients can make sense of their inner world and move toward growth and recovery.🌿

I hold a Master’s degree in Psychotherapy and Counselling and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I’m a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), working fully within their ethical frameworks.🌿

Online Psychotherapy

🧩Sessions personally tailored to your specific needs

In our sessions, we’ll work together to explore present challenges, strengthen positive thinking, and develop healthier ways of coping and responding. My aim is to help you reframe unhelpful patterns and use practical, evidence-based tools to navigate life’s difficulties more effectively.🌿

With experience in both psychotherapy and the psychiatric effects of medication, I bring a broad, informed perspective to the therapeutic process. This is especially valuable when supporting individuals with complex mental health needs, allowing me to tailor each session to your circumstances and help you build sustainable strategies for managing difficult thoughts and emotions.🌿

Sessions are offered through whichever platform feels most comfortable and accessible to you. Each 50-minute session provides a safe, supportive, and collaborative space where trust can develop and meaningful healing can unfold. My goal is for you to feel empowered, understood, and guided toward lasting positive change.🌿

Stress

🧩Based in London, welcoming clients worldwide

My confidential therapy sessions support individuals worldwide in building healthier, more resilient mindsets when faced with life’s most complex challenges. Over the years, I’ve seen how overwhelming such moments can feel—but with the right guidance, they can also become opportunities for growth and transformation.🌿

Life is rarely simple or predictable; it unfolds in uncertain, often difficult ways that can make progress seem distant. You don’t have to face those moments alone. Together, we’ll work through obstacles and uncover the strength not just to endure, but to thrive.🌿

Reaching out is the first step toward clarity, resilience, and a deeper sense of fulfillment. I’m committed to walking beside you through this process, supporting lasting psychological growth and emotional well-being. It’s a privilege to work with clients across the globe and to help each person create a more empowered and meaningful life.🌿

Compassion

🧩Specialist, personalised therapy

I offer guidance and support at every stage of the therapeutic journey, drawing on a range of approaches to help clients find healthier perspectives on life’s complex and unpredictable challenges. My areas of expertise include trauma, mental illness, grief, loss, loneliness, fear, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), addiction, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).🌿

If you’re feeling isolated, overwhelmed, or stuck in a difficult place, know that you don’t have to face it alone. Reaching out is the first step, and together we can begin the process of healing and transformation.🌿

Our work will focus on fostering clarity, resilience, and emotional well-being. Even when the path forward seems hidden, it is never beyond reach. My role is to walk beside you, helping you reconnect with your strength and realize your full potential.🌿

“We make our world significant by the courage of our questions and the depth of our answers”

🧩Carl Sagan, Cosmos

“The mystery of life isn’t a problem to solve, but a reality to experience.”

🧩Frank Herbert, Dune

"With a complicated past with therapy, I was initially apprehensive of therapists being able to understand my issues, many stemming from complex sources such as insecurity, abandonment, abuse etc. It can be hard to comprehend how talking through these issues can help provide relief or hope, especially after long experiences dealing with some of the more painful aspects of human existence.

Richard however is a very approachable individual who in my personal experience did not speak down to me during my sessions. In our meetings,  I felt like I was talking to a friend and that feeling of comfort and safety allowed me to open up about emotional issues with greater ease. During particularly dark periods of our professional relationships, I would look forward to our sessions as almost a brief reprieve, almost akin to going out for a coffee. This is not to say he is unprofessional to be clear, his techniques are grounded in standard psychotherapy standards and his professionalism is unquestionable.

I am in a far better place now due to having met him and am more-confident about my future. By no means a miracle worker (as no therapist can ever claim such a title!), I find that Richard's capacity to highlight the creative, intellectual, and human aspects of my personhood helped me learn to forgive myself for things I thought were unforgivable. I would highly recommend Richard for anyone who is looking for a therapist who can be spoken to like a person/not like a supervisor and wants to learn more about self-compassion and recovery."

"Richard helped me through really tough times — he’s a great listener and truly understands and holds space for you to feel whatever you’re feeling. He put up with my awkward silences, crying spells and talking nonsense 😄 but our sessions were mostly insightful and helped me to get to know, appreciate and love myself more🙏🏻"

🧩Client II

"I've been seeing Richard for over a year and our sessions are the highlight of my week. He really helps me process my emotions and creates constructive ways to navigate mental health. He is deeply insightful, patient and has a gentle calming presence. He has

helped me build a stronger foundation for my mental well—being."

I’ve dedicated my life to walking beside people through their darkest chapters—when hope feels distant and life feels isolating or overwhelming. My purpose is to help each person rediscover their inner strength and resilience, even when the path ahead seems unclear.

In the evening quiet, when Big Ben’s lights glow green, it marks something unfolding behind closed doors. Psychotherapy is much the same—a quiet, powerful signal that inner work is taking place. A private space illuminated, focused, alive with presence.
